I wanted to embark on a cooking blog with my sister, Khaki, as we are both way into food and playing with recipes to make them our own. Our fam is fun! So here are the contributors to The Seasoned Family:
Khaki, the “Seasoned Citizen.” No, she’s not old (she says, “Oh yes I am“)! However, she is passionate about being able to take recipes from yesterday and today to make them even more accessible, doable, and appealing to the senior (aka “seasoned”) citizens. (Don’t tell our Mom I said that!) She is the oldest of the five Duggan kiddos. She inherently understands how to adjust recipes for those with dietary, medical, or age related needs. It must come from her medical professional background. She loves to challenge herself to recreate dishes she tried while dining out, too. When not cooking, Khaki is consulting with companies as her position of partner with Weber & Associates Consulting firm along with her hubby, Kman. She also teaches as online adjunct with two seasoned universities in business, health care and supply chain course work.
Susan, the “Seasoned Sister.” She is a younger sister to Khaki (number four of the five siblings) and loves to cook and play in the kitchen with, and for, family and friends. She often tries out new recipes on them both! She loves ethnic recipes and spices and tends to follow recipes more explicitly than does her sis. They are a hoot in the kitchen together!!! When she’s not cooking, she is a wife to Mike (a wonderful guinea pig, ‘er “Seasoned Sampler”) and Mom to two beautiful children, Mary and Daniel, both of whom have palates that are growing into the “Seasoned Sampler” stage. Oh yeah, she also works full-time at a major credit card company (what’s in your wallet?) leading high performing teams in operational risk management…so her posts are appropriately infrequent.
Clayton, the “Seasoned Son.” He is Khaki’s son whom Susan and Khaki hope to entice to join them on this foodie adventure. He says he is “in!” Clayton is a chef at Helen’s Restaurant in RVA…so he cooks the most of the three of us! He makes delicious meals and specializes in very creative desserts! He loves ice creams and sorbets and his Mom loves his crème brulee! You must check him out at Helen’s if you are in, or visit, RVA. When not cooking he draws and creates music!
Together (and with a few others that may join as we go along) we are “The Seasoned Family!” We think our brothers, John and Bob, who are “Seasoned Smokers and Foodies” in their own right and our sister, Ginny, the “Seasoned Ingredient Substitute Foodie” will also be contributors or at a minimum sharing their experiments. We have Khaki’s son, Michael, who is a “Seasoned Food Photog,” who shoots weddings, skylines, wildlife, special events, and food images around RVA…check out some of his work Michael Hostetler Photography.
We sincerely hope you, our “Seasoned Samplers and Supporters” enjoy reading our blog, trying out our recipes, and sharing your stories of how you made them your own.
